- 2009-12-21: Structure Fire
4200 Block, Lower Saucon Rd., Lower Saucon Twp.
The FFC was dispatched with Steel City Fire for a fully involved Barn Fire. Upon the arrival of E1212, the first due engine, a roughly 150ft by 300ft barn was found to be well involved. The barn and contents were a total loss and crews assisted Station 63 with supression and overhaul. Several agencies were on scene for hours assisting with the efforts. Stations 12, 14, 17, 18, 61, 62, and 63 all with full responses as well as tankers from both Lehigh and Bucks counties: Bucks 40, 42; Lehigh 20, 27; Northampton 15, 28, 46, 53.

Freemansburg Fire Company, 600 Monroe St.
Crews from the FFC hosted a Cub Scouts visit to the firehouse. The scouts were shown the various pieces of firefighting eqipment used with in the station, and were given a demonstration on how a thermal imaging camera works.

The FFC was dispatched for a possible electrical dwelling fire. Crews arrived on scene and went in service with the thermal imaging camera. Crews determined that there was no issue with the electrical system.

1000 Block, Pembroke Rd.
The FFC was dispatched for a possible structure fire. Crews found an odor of gas around the structure. The odor was traced to a sanitary sewer line behind the business. Crews determined that the gasoline was dumped into the sewer system, causing the odor. Occupants were returned to the structure without incident.

The FFC was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm. Crews on scene determined that the alarm was set off by a culinary incident.

The FFC was dispatched for an MVA with a vehicle into the canal. Crews arrived to find a vehicle down an embankment along the water's edge. EMS and fire crews extricated the pateient, who was taken for evaluation at St. Luke's Hospital.

The FFC was dispatched, along with Steel City Fire and Bethlehem Township Fire for a search and rescue operation at the request of Freemansburg Police. A resident with Alzheimer's and dementia had wandered away from home and was missing for 24 hours. Crews were requested to search the area in and around the old quarry. After a three-hour search,

The FFC was dispatched along with Steel City Fire for a possible structure fire. Engine 1212 arrived on scene to find a two-story barn with smoke showing. After investigating, crews made a quick stop with a water can, preventing the fire from spreading. Crews remained on scene for overhaul.

The FFC was dispatched to the above location for an automatic fire alarm. Crews arrived and found that the alarm was activated by a culinary incident.

The FFC was dispatched for a brush fire along the canal. Crews arrived to find a 75-foot-long area actively burning.

The FFC participated in the Freemansburg Trick-or-Treat night and coordinated the annual bonfire.

The FFC was dispatched for a spill. Paint cans had dumped all over the roadway and paint was accumulating in puddles on the side of the road. Crews prevented the spill from reaching the canal.

The FFC was dispatched for an MVA with unknown injuries. Crews arrived to find a two-vehicle MVA, one vehicle in the roadway, and patients with injuries. One patient was transported for evaluation.

The FFC was dispatched to the above location for a possible dwelling fire. Crews on scene found an automatic alarm sounding and determined that the problem was caused by a culinary incident.

The FFC was dispatched to assist Fire 63 with a MVC possibly involving a motorcycle.
- 2009-09-11: Spill
Main and Washington Sts.
The FFC was dispatched at the request of the City of Bethlehem for a spill. A vehicle had driven 2-3 miles, leaking fuel for the entire distance. The fuel was now leaking into the storm sewers which drain into the canal and river. Crews deployed spill booms and pads to absorb the fuel and prevent any further contamination. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and a hazardous material clean-up crew were called to the scene by the City.

Lehigh Canal Towpath
The FFC was dispatched with Bethlehem Township EMS for a patient with lacerations. Bethlehem Township Fire was requested for their Gator to assist with extrication. The patient had gone off a bike jump off of the towpath and severely lacerated his leg. Fire crews had to locate the patient and then extricate him to get him treatment. The patient was loaded onto 17’s gator and removed to a waiting ambulance at the lockhouse.

Freemansburg Elementary School, 500 Block Monroe St.
The FFC was dispatched to the above location for an automatic fire alarm. Upon the arrival of Chief 1251, it was found workers were replacing the roof over the gym. The alarms in the cafe-gym-atorium were activated. Crews investigated to find the roofing company parked a tar pot directly in front of an intake vent for the HVAC system. When the system would kick in it drew the smoke through the detectors activating the alarms.

300 Block, Juniata St.
The FFC was dispatched for a possible dwelling fire, smoke in a structure. Medic 17 arrived reporting nothing showing exterior followed by Assistant Chief 1252. After investigating the source, it was found the homes heating unit had malfunctioned causing smoke to back up into the home.
- 2009-08-08: Motor Vehicle Accident
Cambria and Juniata Sts.
The FFC was dispatched to the above location for an MVC with unknown injury. Upon the arrival of Chief 1251, it was report a single vehicle had gone head on into a stone wall with three occupants out and walking around. The driver stated he lost control around the S-curves and hit the wall. All occupants were evaluated by Bethlehem Township EMS with no one transported.

The FFC was dispatched with Fire Station 63 for an outdoor odor investigation. Upon the arrival of the first units, it was found that a UGI gas line was struck and actively leaking. Crews assisted Fire 63 with securing the area until the hazard was mitigated.

The FFC was dispatched to the above location with EMS for a pt somewhere on the towpath. While crews were preparing to fan out and search the tow path, the pt emerged from the brush and identified himself to EMS for treatment.

The FFC was dispatched to a possible dumpster fire. Medic 1785 arrived and reported a working dumpster fire. Crews arrived on scene to find a small fire in a dumpster. Witnesses stated was lit by a bunch of kids.

600 Block, Ramblewood Ln.
The FFC was dispatched for a possible dwelling fire in a high occupancy unit. Updates reported a strong gas odor but no fire. Crews arrived to find no odors or hazes present. After investigation, it was determined the problem was a UGI issue. UGI was called to the scene and all fire units went available.

Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County
The FFC was invited to attend Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdoms Public Safety Event that was held from the 22nd to the 29th of June. E-1212 was on hand for display inside the park with Possessed as a background. Some of the other agencies on hand included the Eastern PA EMS Council Command Unit, Lehigh County's Hazmat Operations vehicle, Bushkill Township Police and several of the surrounding Whitehall agencies.

Main and Washington Sts.
The FFC was dispatched for a pedestrian accident with unknown injuries. Chief 1251 arrived to find a single car with minor damage and a single bicycle lying in the roadway. The rider of the bicycle suffered minor injuries and was taken for evaluation. The bicycle, however, was badly damaged.
- 2009-06-22: Dwelling Fire
100 Block, N. Oak St.
The FFC was dispatched for a working dwelling fire in the town homes. Chief 1251 arrived on location reporting smoke and flames showing. The crew from E-1212 was on scene within minutes making an excellent stop on the fire. Crews from Truck 1421 opened the roof of the fire building to check for extension. The fire was contained to the primary home with minor damages to the neighboring homes. 2 adults and 3 pets were displaced and no injuries were reported. Units on scene were E-1212, R-1241, R-1243, E-6311, E-1412 and T-1421 as well as crews from Medic 17 who provided rehab. The Red Cross was on scene to assist the affected residents.

The FFC was dispatched with station 63 for an MVA with unknown injuries and fire. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle off the road with the driver evacuated. The vehicle had hit a pole prior to leaving the roadway bringing live wires down all around the scene. The vehicle burst into flames after the impact also. Crews were unable to access the vehicle due to the power lines and were forced to wait until the lines were confirmed de-energized. Luckily, the driver suffered only minor injuries.

The FFC held its Bi-annual coin toss while the Freemansburg Hill Climb was held. We would like to thank all that contributed, it is greatly appreciated.
- 2009-06-08: Wire Fire
New and Washington Sts.
The FFC was dispatched to active wire fire, reports of bright flashes of light in the area as well. Unit 1256 arrived to find the fire out. Power was not immediately effected. Fire crews remained on scene until PPL arrived and assumed control of the scene.
- 2009-05-28: Domestic Rescue
600 Block, Ramblewood Ln.
The FFC was dispatched at the request of Medic 17 for lifting assistance. The lifting call was upgraded to a Domestic Rescue assignment bringing Rescue 1241, Ladder 1421 and Rescue 1741. Crews were faced with a critically ill patient on the second floor that needed to be extricated. Crews used a large slider board from 1421 to slide the patient down the stairs across a ladder from the front door right into the back of Medic 1784. Crews were on scene for over an hour performing this task. EMS crews stabilized the patient for transport prior to rescue operations.

Lehigh River, Freemansburg, Lower Saucon and Bethlehem City
The FFC was dispatched for a water rescue on the Lehigh River. Initial reports were of a young adolescent had jumped from the Freemansburg Bridge. Upon arrival of FPD and Chief 1251, the children were out of the water and on shore. They were playing just off shore when one child was swept away by the current and carried nearly a quarter mile before he was able to grab a submerged tree and his fast thinking friends were able to pull him to shore using tree branches from the side of the river. The child was evaluated by Medic 17 and released to family.

The FFC was dispatched for a wire hazard, wire down in the street. Crews investigated and found a phone wire down from a pole, it appeared to be a new installation that was not finished but left laying. Crews coiled the wire and cleared the roadway.

The FFC was notified of an outdoor smoke condition while on scene of a previous alarm. Crews quickly investigated the cause and pinpointed the origin as an outdoor fireplace.

The FFC was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm. Crews arrived to find a slight smoke condition caused by a culinary incident. Crews ventilated and reset the alarm with no further problems.

The FFC was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm. Initial reports were for smoke showing per Police, but later was corrected that PD advised NO smoke showing. Crews investigated the alarmed home and the adjacent by home owner request to find no problems, accidental trip.

The FFC was dispatched for a fire alarm activation, residents alarms are sounding for an unknown reason. Crews arrived on scene with a 3 story residential, all alarms sounding. After investigation, it was found that moisture build up in a 3rd floor detector had triggered the alarm. Once removed from the system, the alarms were silent, faulty detector head.

The FFC was dispatched for an odor investigation, residents could again smell a gas like odor in and about their homes. Crews located the problem in a nearby garage where a resident was replacing the gas tank on a vehicle and the fumes were being blown right into the adjacent homes.

The FFC was dispatched to an Automatic Fire Alarm activation. Crews on scene along with the residents determined it was an accidental activation caused by steam.

200 Block, Clearfield St.
The FFC was dispatched to an odor investigation, residents could smell natural gas in and around their homes. Fire crews and UGI traced the cause to a leaking gas line. UGI addressed the issues with no further problems.

100 Block, Juniata St.
The FFC was dispatched to an indoor odor investigation, resident came home to her home smelling of natural gas. Upon investigation, it was found the home owners dog had hit the stove top burner knob causing it to release raw gas into the dwelling. Crews ventilated the structure and verified no further problems.

Fire crews were dispatched for a dwelling fire. Upon arrival, crews found arcing and sparking coming from the oven. After de-energizing, no other signs of extension were found, the home was naturally ventilated.

400 Block, S. Oak St.
Fire crews were dispatched for a gas odor investigation. Prospective home buyers were faced with a house full of natural gas when entering to view a vacant dwelling. Crews shut the gas supply off to the home and found a faulty heater as the source. Neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution until UGI could arrive and contain the problem.

900 Block, Lincoln St.
Fire crews were dispatched for an automatic fire alarm. Upon investigation, crews were faced with a smoke condition from the front door. After forcing entry into the home, a burning pan was discovered as the cause on the stove. Homeowners were not home at the time. The fire was contained to the cookware. Ventilation was needed to clear the home of smoke.

Rapid rainfall and heavy hail caused sections of Main Street and Washington Street to flood and become covered in debris. Ffire crews were dispatched to shut down sections of the roadways. Crews also had to wash down sections that were covered in rocks and other debris.

Northampton County Fire School
Twelve members attended Hazmat Operations attaining certification in Hazmat Operations. Crews were taught how to perform basic confinement and containment skills in preparation for the arrival of higher trained Hazmat Technicians.

The FFC was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm, hallway smoke detector activation. Upon arrival, found the residence evacuated. After investigating, found the cause to be culinary related. No further assistance needed.

Lower Saucon Rd. at Valley View Dr., Lower Saucon Twp.
The FFC was dispatched with Steel City Fire Company (Station 63) for a brush fire in the area of Lower Saucon and Valley View Dr. Engine 6311 arrived on scene just ahead of Rescue 1241 to find a 130x40 foot area scorched by fire. The fire had burned itself out and crews from 12 and 63 extinguished all remaining hot spots.

The FFC was dispatched for an odor investigation with residents complaining of itching and burning eyes. After investigating the source of the odor, it was determined the symptoms were caused by excessive air freshener use.

The FFC was dispatched to check an extinguished rubbish fire. Chief 1251 arrived to find a utility trailer with moderate fire damage that was already extinguished. The fire caused moderate damage making the trailer unusable.

The FFC was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm. Upon the arrival of 1252, he found a home undergoing renovations. Alarm was due to the construction, no further assistance needed.
- 2009-03-13: Freemansburg ES Cub Scouts Visit Fire Station
Freemansburg Fire Station, 600 Monroe St.
The 4th and 5th grade cub scouts from Freemansburg Elementary school visited the firehouse to learn fire safety and check out the station. Scouts were shown the many aspects of firefighting, including how thermal imaging works and tying basic knots.

The second grade cub scouts visited the firehouse for an educational visit and quick tour of the apparatus. Students were able to see various pieces of fire fighting equipment demonstrated as well as taking time for a short fire prevention discussion. Students walked from the elementary school to the fire station for their tour.

Thirty-two members from three companies attended the Hazmat 472 Awareness course in preparation to take the Hazmat Ops class.

Freemansburg Elementary School, 500 Block, Monroe St.
The FFC was invited to the Freemansburg Elementary School as guest speakers to read Dr Seuss books to the classes as part of the celebration of Dr' Seuss's Birthday. Members of the Fire Co. accompanied by Sparky the Fire dog read books to several classes and gave brief fire safety chats to the students showing them how to Stop, Drop and Roll. Some books read were "The Foot Book" and "I am not going to get up today". Sparky also got in on the fun sporting his Dr' Seuss hat with some of the Freemansburg Leadership Students.

The FFC was dispatched to an accident with unknown injuries in the unit block of Main St. Arriving crews found a 2 vehicle MVC with moderate damage to both vehicles. Four people were taken for evaluation by Medic 17.
- 2009-02-28: Unknown Type Fire
300 Block, S. Oak St.
The FFC was dispatched for an unknown type fire behind the 300 block of S. Oak St. Crews responding found a visible fire across the river in Steel City. Upon investigation, the fire was found to be a controlled burn with no interventions needed from the fire company.
- 2009-02-23: CO Alarm
1700 Block, 6th St., Bethlehem Twp.
The FFC was dispatched in place of Stations 14 and 17 for a CO alarm with no symptoms. Unit 1791 on scene advised of a possible furnace malfunction. Upon the arrival of Engine 1212, crews checked the home finding minimal CO readings until the furnace was cycled. The furnace was in need of cleaning and caused soot and CO to back fill the home. The homeowner had already contacted a service company to respond for the cleaning. Crews opened the residence to allow natural ventilation prior to being cleared by 1752.

200 Block, Juniata St.
The FFC was dispatched for a possible Dwelling Fire, residence filled with smoke. First arriving crews found a 2 story half double with heavy black smoke from the chimney and a light haze from the front door. The homeowner had started a fire in a wood burning stove but forgot to open the damper. Crews ventilated the home and checked the stove and surrounding area to be sure of no additional problems.

FFC crews on scene of a QRS call were notified of an audible alarm sounding from a vacant apartment. Crews investigated the nature of the alarm and found that crews have been working in the building and had teh heat turned up as high as it would go. No problems were found, fumes from paint and other work being done caused the alarm.

QRS training reviewing proper immobilization practices from sitting in a simulated car. Four chairs were set as a 4-door vehicle. Crews practiced manual stabilization, c-collar applications, KED immobilization and back boarding. Assistance from Medic 17 crew.

Unit Block, Market St.
The FFC was dispatched for a CO alarm with symptoms. Crews arrived on ocatoin to find the residence evacuated with one party complaining of a headache. It was later determined that his headache was non-related and he has had it per the patient. Fire crews investigated the alarm and found no readings of CO after resetting the unit and cycling all appliances. Fire units were clear of the scene with no patients transported.

Towpath Canal Trail
The FFC was dispatched for an unknown medical problem on the Towpath. Per dispatch, a male patient was on a cell call with slurred speech and unable to talk. It was found that a bad cell connection caused the confusion and the patient was actually in Springtown with no problems.

Cambria and Washington Sts.
The FFC was dispatched for an MVC with injuries. Crews arrived to find a 2 vehicle MVC with moderate damage and minor debris. There was a single patient that was transported by Medic 17 for a minor lower leg injury. The second vehicle fled the scene but was located by returning apparatus that passed where it was abandoned. Crews cleared all road hazards and handled patient evaluations of the second vehicle's occupants when found.

Applebutter Rd., Lower Saucon Twp.
The FFC was dispatched with Station 63 for a MVC with rollover and injuries. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle that rolled several times. The driver was self extricated prior to arrival. Crews stabilized the vehicle and assisted with patient care. The patient was transported by Dewey EMS and Medic 17 to St. Luke's Hospital as a trauma alert.

The FFC was dispatched for an MVC with rescue. Crews arrived to find a two vehicle MVC with heavy front end damage. There were two patients, not entrapped, who were transported by Medic 17 to St. Luke's Hospital as trauma alerts. Crews contained and cleared all road hazards.

The FFC was dispatched for an MVC with injuries. Crews arrived to find a 2 vehicle MVC with a pediatric class 3 injury. Crews stabilized the vehicles, provided patient care until the arrival of Medic 17 and contained hazards.

Monroe St. Hill, Main St. Bridge
The FFC was dispatched by PD to close the Main St. Bridge and the Monroe St. hill due to an unsafe ice condition. Several vehicles were stuck on the bridge and others were sideways on the hill. Crews shut down the roadway until PennDOT and the Freemansburg Road crew could get to the scenes.

The FFC was dispatched for an auto alarm, possibly CO activation. Crews arrived to find the home evacuated. There was an audible alarm sounding when the resident came home and she then pushed the fire button on her home alarm system. The CO alarm in the basement was alarming. Crews determined that the alarm was due to a low battery situation as was a 2nd floor alarm that activated also. No readings of CO were found with the meters.

The FFC was dispatched for an indoor odor investigation. Crews arrived to find an odor of natural gas inside the residence. The problem was eventually traced to a faulty stove regulator. The stove was shut off from the gas supply with no further incident.

The FFC was dispatched for a possible Dwelling fire in a high occupancy setting. Crews on scene arrived to find a middle row town home with nothing showing. There was an odor and slight smoke condition in the residence. Upon investigation, crews found a burnt electrical wire to a lamp. Crews ensured no further issues and verified the breakers had functioned properly.

The FFC was dispatched for an automatic alarm, updated by PD for a possible chimney fire. Crews arrived to find a smoke and odor in the residence due to burnt food in the stove. After a short investigation, no other problems were found.

The FFC was dispatched for an MVC with possible class 5. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway into trees. One patient was ejected and class 5. Crews searched the area to ensure there were no other occupants.

100 Block, Washington St.
The FFC was dispatched for a possible dwelling fire. Upon the arrival of the first officer, it was discovered there was a fire in the oven that self extinguished. Crews checked to be sure there was no extension and ventilated the residence.
